Unblocking a bathroom basin is a relatively easy task!
Easy as 1-2-3
Step 1 - remove
The best place to start is to remove the u–bend. This is attached beneath the basin, either behind the pedestal or within the base unit on which the basin is fitted. The u-bend is usually a threaded fitting, which merely requires unscrewing.
Step 2 - empty
Once unscrewed handle carefully as it will contain a small amount of water - this water can typically be quite smelly. Once detached empty into a bucket – don’t be tempted to pour the remnant water into the basin because you have part of the waste in your hand!
Step 3 - unblock
Check the waste to see if it is blocked with hair of other detritus and remove it. Once removed, reconnect the u-bend and run the tap – keeping an eye out for any leaks. If the water runs away freely – you have been successful in unblocking your sink!
